FanFic...Real writing?

Oy!

It's amazing how easily I forget to update this place. Bad blogger!

I'm working on my first actual novel. I've been writing the FanFiction type of stories for so long that it feels odd to write about a totally made up character. Of course, FF is nothing more than my imagination anyway. I just get a nice template. LOL

So it begs the question.

Is it real writing?

I know there are plenty of people that look down their noses at the genre...for lack of a better word. Copywright issues, blah blah. But really...when you come down to it, aren't all stories based off of something?

The guy you're writing about generally is a mix of a bunch of variables that makes you weak in the knees. Or the girl...everything you would ever want to be.

At least in my writing.

*standing*

I'm a romance writer and I'm not ashamed of it!

If that sounded at all like an AA meeting, then it should. LOL Because you really have to defend yourself sometimes when you write romance. Another genre that's looked down upon. I got 'em both in my arsenal.

And I just love them both.

Any thoughts?

Crazy...me or them?

I'm pretty sure I've lost my mind.

Only a person without her full faculties would work...and continue to work in customer service. Initially I figured that because I do phone service that I could deal with it on a day to day basis.

I must have been on some serious drugs.

I took over 90 calls today....within an eight hour day. Not to mention the actual problems per call. OMG! Did I mention that I do Dental Insurance?

Oh yeah...sounds simple doesn't it?

Ha!

I can deal with dental offices till the end of time, but I talk to a member and I want to rip out my eyeballs, my hair and gouge out my ears. Holy crap. I wasn't aware that there were that many stupid people on the planet.

I should know this.

I've worked customer service for more than half my life, but yet I still am surprised when I get asked a stupid....stupid....STUPID question. Not just any stupid question, but a legion of them. Was it a full moon or something?

Good sweet God.

Okay....sorry for the rant.

Chalk it up to short term psychosis.

Not Enough Hours in the Day...

Okay...so in one weekend, you figure you have 48 hrs of your own time, right? Umm...I'm going to say that is one vicious lie.

LOL

I have more to pack into two days that there are hours in the friggin' day. Errands, family visits shave off at least six hours. Sleep...well, that's the one and only time that I get a full eight hours.

Catching up on email.

Ack!

I don't want to talk about it.

Checking the various Blogs and things that I read on a regular basis. Ha! Again, please don't get me started.

Then you look at the clock and somehow it's already ohhh...what? 8:30pm on a Sunday.

WTF?

What the hell happened to my weekend?

And a long weekend at that, with an extra day in there.

I know I don't really have anything to bitch about. I don't have kids and all that stuff, but seriously I blink and my weekend is over.

The only good thing is that I got twenty pages written on my MS!

WHOOOOOHHOOOOO!

More than I've gotten written all week. Imagine that?!

LOL

Okay, I'll quit my bitching.

Reading...an obsession

Okay...so I've come to the conclusion that I have a problem.  I love...love...love to read.  Not like a normal person loves to read.

I have stacks and stacks of books.  They are taking over my life.  My TBR (to be read) pile is precariously stacked to the ceiling about five times.  Seriously, there's definitely a problem here.  I can't seem to stop it though.

I have to say romance is the top contender to my piles.  Romantic suspense is the leader of the pack, followed quickly by passionate, edge of erotica books and rounding out with comedy.  The problem is that the Romance genre is one of the hottest publications at the moment.

There are numerous books released each month.  Anything from series books to known names like Nora Roberts and her alter ego JD Robb.  All you have to do is sign onto the internet and Amazon, Barnes and Noble or even individual author sites are filled with books.

If you like this author...try this one.  If you like this style, try this one and oh...it's a series with 8 books before this one.  GA!

It's a vicious cycle.

And I am more than happy to keep up with it.

Yeesh.

Tattoo

OUCH!

Okay...I know I've done this before. I do have 2 tats already, but my GOD! I got a tat on my back reinked and improved upon. At first...not so bad. It hurt, but it was bearable.

Then the tattoo guy, Brian, got to the middle of my back. Mother of GOD!

I'm not a mother, but hell if I wasn't doing those breathing excercises they teach you in lamaze. That was some serious pain. In fact, so much pain that I definitely am skipping the whole childbirth thing.

Yowza!

The Good news is that it looks wonderful.

Brian from Cape Fear Tattoo did an amazing job. (yes, we went there strictly for the name. I just had to.)

The even better news....it doesn't hurt anymore.

=)

Happy Saturday to you all.
